Skyline House - Custom Single Family Home

The client for this project was a working professional couple. Located on a very large and flat lot high in the Oakland hills the site conditions made managing the construction much easier than would have been the case for some of our steep hillside projects. The one early problem was an 18 inch storm drain that ran directly under the proposed building site. Before starting construction of the building it was necessary to relocate the storm drain.

Footings

Like most building projects the building itself starts with footing trenches, reinforcing steel and concrete.

Concrete Pour

Foundations pours usually start early in the morning and this was no exception. Although the site provided plenty of room a concrete pump with boom was employed to make the work flow easier.

Concrete Pour

Even with the pump pours this large require a substantial crew.

Framing

Unfortunately I have few pictures of the framing underway. In this shot the majority of the frame is complete.

Exterior Door to Courtyard

All of the exterior doors were 8 foot single light virtical grain douglas fir with a natural finish.

Flat Roofing Completed

The tar and gravel roofing as well as membranes under several second story decks over living space are in place. Note the custom "egg crate" window in the future dining area.
